Method

Angie Dean studied Classical Piano under the direction of Noreen Stokes (OAM) at the Elder Conservatorium at University of Adelaide (B. Mus (Perf) Degree) as well as Jazz Piano with Bruce Hancock at SACAE (Associate Diploma in Jazz).

 

Angie combines these methods to create a versatile and Holistic Approach to learning Piano helping her students to Read Music, Ear Training, Improvising, Rhythm, Hand Position/Posture , Music Theory and Stage Presentation.

 

Students vary from all Ages, Levels and Intellectual Abilities, encompassing Infant (4 years +), Primary, Secondary, Mums, Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas. Angie uses the Bastien Piano Basics Method for Beginners of all ages and teaches in her lesson the appreciation of the Instrument and how it works.

Angie helps the student as they progress to decide which pathway they would like to explore either Classical (AMEB Piano Exams) or Jazz and Pop Styles or a combination of both.

Angie teaches a range of Genres including Jazz, Classical, Pop/Rock/Blues and Musical Theatre and has continued success with students achieving high grades for AMEB and HSC Piano Exams and entrance Auditions into the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Australian Institute of Music (AIM), Piano Eisteddfods and Bands.

 

            

Angie Dean's Piano Lessons aim for the student to most importantly have Fun and Enjoy playing the Piano, and to develop a Solid Work Ethic in order to build Confidence in Performing. All students are provided the opportunity to perform at the yearly Angie Dean Vocal & Piano Studio Student Concert, to showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements.
